PADRE ISLAND, Texas - A bottlenose dolphin that stranded on Padre Island in November has made great strides towards recovery and release, reports the Corpus Christi Caller Times. Members of the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network transported an improving patient to Moody Gardens in Galveston this week for additional care.

I'm so glad the little guy has folks to take care of him.
Dolphins and other marine mammals that strand on the TX Coast get plenty of care. Over the course of a few years, we had several dolphins that were nursed back to health at the ARK facility at UTMSI in Port Aransas. As a volunteer, I learned a great deal and many people devoted countless hours as they require 24 hour monitoring. This is a photo of a spinner dolphin that was nicknamed Harley.
Glad to know someone is looking out for friends. They are so unique and fun to watch. They are so curious.
Carl,
They are brilliant and quite strong as well. Periodic blood samples are needed to check on their progress. You have to remove the dolphin from the tank to take the samples. Catching a healthy dolphin is a lot like being in a rodeo. KM
