Port Aransas Real Estate

WOAH, WOAH, WOAH KM, what the heck is all that white stuff??  In TEXAS???  @ the beach!??!! You gotta be kidding me!  Dangit!  What a site that was!  How interesting is that picture w/white all over the white sand, looks cold. 

This was how it looked in 04'?  Has it melted by now?  Is it safe to go to the beach?  KM

Brrr...It isn't quite as cold today...but no I don't think the beach is a safe place to be.  Actually, that was the last time it got below freezing in Port A, Christmas 2004.  We'll be about 40 degrees tonight.  Despite the temps, there will be some hardcore fisherman out there.   Fortunately, the Gulf and the Bay are still in the low 60's and that helps protect us a little.  

Our Winter Texan retirees are already arriving from points North.  I just had lunch next to a table of about 20 of them.  It is like a Spring day to those folks.  The rest of us locals go into hiding.  I had to put away my flip flops for a few days.  The local grocery will be sold out of chili fixin's...it happens like clockwork.

To answer your other question...I don't know if cats like snow, but when they are hungry they will persevere.

Awesome photos...my husband's cousin actually lives (married a local girl) there and had sent us some photos (they went to the beach when it snowed)...but, their photos are no comparison to yours!  Great!

Thanks for the kudos on the pictures.  I took plenty that day.  Let's face it, six inches of snow will probably not be seen around here again in my lifetime.  You know it is a rarity when two picture books are published on one event.  Here is another beach picture with snow in the dunes.  Think warm thoughts. Thanks...I like the fourth photo as well.  It looks so odd to see palm trees with snow.  The pool looks like a few snow monkeys might be right at home.  You are right, I should have posted it for Wordless Wednesday...I forgot.  We'll call that Thoughtless Thursday.

I definitely wanted it in Localism as it will likely not happen here again in a generation.  We are on the same latitude as Tampa and they don't get six inches of snow very often either.  At any rate, you live and work in a lovely place.  Enjoy Maui while we all have dreams of Lahaina. KM

I hope it doesn't happen again soon.  We have enough of it in Colorado.  We are ready for warm weather.

We get the occasional snow on top of our mountain, but it's usually gone the next day.  Last winter it actually lasted a couple of days.  I don't expect we'll see any this year because 2 years in a row would be unheard of.

Keith - Is this from global warming? Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Us crazy Texans don't know how to act when we can't run around in flip-flops and tee's.

Thanks for all the comments on the snow in Port Aransas.  Did you notice the snowman with a fishing pole and tackle box?  

It is currently 37 degrees in our little tropical paradise.  The Gulf water is now just below 60.  I'm waiting for global warming or spring...whichever comes first.  I know it is far colder elsewhere.  Stay warm up in CO Mark.
